Layering in Layout

Can i layer ‘Scenes’ in Layout? and can I make them transparent (so the white background is not white, but clear) and can i alter the transparency of a file (so the lines are grey not black!?

What I would like to achieve (without going into the SU file) is import a floor plan into Layout, so the lines are black but the white areas are clear, then put another scene ‘below’ it, which is greyed out (sort of like the ‘fog’ effect to suggest distance).

Is that easily done, or do i have to go and make up a view with fog, in SketchUp?

I think what you are getting at is called stacking viewports and yes you can do that. It’s very useful in many cases. There are different options for control of what is see-through and what isn’t. You might use Fog in SketchUp or maybe the right thing is to draw a shape in LO and give it a transparent fill. You might also use different styles for each viewport.

As for line color that might be something you can control in a single viewport via tag line settings, too.

A key thing is to put each element in the stack on its own layer so you can access elements lower in the stack without moving the higher things.
