Yesterday I updated to a newer version, now I cant use the program, I click on the vray toolbar icons and none of them work, the asset editor and chaos cosmos windows don´t appear. does anyone else is having this issue? I contacted already to Chaos but haven’t received any answer from the so far.
I also have the same problem, I installed version 7 but no button works, I had to go back to 6.2, I wrote to support, they should answer me soon, if necessary I’ll let you know
In the middle of a rendering project so I saw the update, downloaded but won’t install until I get those out to client…

I went and checked the release notes for 7 and it seems that Vray now supports Metal in sketchup on mac, allowing the GPU to contribute (finally).
I assume this was made possible because sketchup itself runs on Metal.
I’m also gonna assume that using Vray7 on a mac SU with the old engine might turn off that part of the update ?
any luck running it without Metal activated ?

Excellent. Will see how these glitches resolve themselves, but this good news.
they’re not talking about a small bump but a doubling of performances (that’d be huge)

Try opening a new Sketchup file. Wait a second or two, then go back to your drawing and try to open the Chaos Browser or Asset Editor. I have been needing to do that since the last update to get my tools to work. It’s annoying but I can at least get work done.
I haven’t tried it on Mac yet, I’ve been working on my windows desktop. There must be an issue with the new version I installed the previous version and it’s working fine, except for the popping messages asking me to update.
If vray now supports gpu rendering on apple silicon I guess it’s time to upgrade my M1 Max MacBook Pro to an M4 machine with ray tracing acceleration hardware.

having the same issue before the update all my geos were showing and now only things i have uploaded myself not from cosmos… my thesis is due next week and I NEED these final renders to go through … SOS
Attached below is what I mean… my setting havent changed on anything … both are still at low setting as just trying before going full out

On my Mac the new VRAY render didn’t even open and the program immediately crashed. I installed the older version of VRAY and installed it. Works great again. Maybe that’s a solution?

I had the problem also with the Vray beta version 6.99. The issue was the Fredo6 LOTT plugin. After deinstalling it, Vray 6.99 Beta worked.
I have not heard from Fredo6 back on a resolution.
It takes two to create a software conflict. If the earlier version of V-Ray worked and the newer didn’t, it might have been something that Chaos did to its newer extension, not necessarily @Fredo6 .
Agree, but Vray did not want to tell me what they changed - to pass it on to Fredo6. And they cannot make sure there that their versions are compatible with all Plugins out there - which I understand.
have you tried exposing the problem on sketchucation ? Fredo is more active there

On the vray asset editor, click on the cube right next to the light bulb , if you see the items of your model that are not showing on the render, find them and then click on the arrow on the right side of them.

I actually emailed them about this sent them my files etc as i was in a panic my thesis is due in a week and about a few years of work down the drain. I had to go back a get verison 6 and find an old old old back up and work from there as my solution.
They have told me it’s a glitch and they are working on it but too late now
Basically anything from their browser gets deleted in vray 7 from materials, objects and lights
