I had someone create a model for me using a 2D floor plan. The model is 603MB and won’t open at all on my Mac. I tried importing it to Trimble Connect as well, and it doesn’t do anything. Is there any way to reduce the file size to something manageable. I’m new to Sketchup and am using the free web version currently on an M1 (2020) MacBook Air.
603 Mb is well beyond the limit for the free web version of SketchUp. What, as a hobbyist user, are you modeling that is so huge?
As for what you can do to reduce the size, it’s hard to say without seeing the .skp file. You could download it to your computer and share it with us via DropBox.
It 's likely that you’ll need to remove a bunch of objects and purge unused but that’s only a guess without having seen the file.
Your model contains a lot of excessively obese components and many large textures.
Reducing the textures to reasonable sizes knocked about 15% off the file size but it’s still way too large for SketchUp Free.
You need to replace the heavy components like the beds …
… couch and ottomans …
… and even components like the lamp in the bed room …
… with much simpler lower-poly components with smaller texture files.
Removing most of the excessively large objects from the 3D Warehouse reduced the file by 78% but even then it’s still too large for SketchUp Free.
I’m still trying to reduce the file to make it usable in SketchUp Free but it’s slow going. How did you create the model in the first place? For example, how did you create the doors and their frames. It doesn’t look like they were made in SketchUp let alone SketchUp Free.
Finally stripped out all the stuff that was dragging the model down including those doors which were adding a huge amount to the file size even after removing the corpulent furniture and appliance components.File size is now reduced by 98%. You’ll have to go back to the 3D Warehouse and find very lightweight components to put in their places if you choose to use the file and repopulate it.

Really appreciate the feedback! Thanks for taking your time to look at it and provide that purged file.
