Inserting multiple Sketchup models (with Point Cloud info) into layout

I’d like to be able to bring more than one sketchup model with integral point cloud information into one layout document.

The example I have is as follows:

Site plan showing existing house and driveway. Ground mesh derived from point cloud. Geometry draped over ground mesh showing existing layout.

Site plan showing proposed house and driveway. Ground mesh derived from point cloud. Proposed geometry draped over ground mesh showing proposed layout.

It was easier to create these as 2 separate files but when I bring theses into layout it doesn’t allow multiple use of point cloud.

I am aware that I can probably achieve the same info in a single model but would be more convenient to be able to keep these separate.

This is not the first instance where this sort of thing has been problematic.

Thanks

What happens when you do that?

Is it the same point cloud in both files? Same camera position for the scenes in both?

What version of SketchUp and LayOut? Your profile says you are still using 2022.

So, it is the same pointcloud? Is this mesh altered differently in both proposals or do they stay the same? You might break it up in three SketchUp models (Groundmesh+Pointcloud, proposal 1 and proposal 2) and stack viewports in LayOut.

For stacking, all scenes inside each SketchUp model needs to be the same, as @DaveR hinted so the best way to approach this is copying the SketchUp file where you create the groundmesh, including all the scenes.

Hi,

What you want to achieve is indeed not possible in the current version of Scan Essentials.

When you load another SKP in the LO project it will not recognize that it could be link to the same PC than the first one that has been loaded and consequently will not display it for the second SKP.

Best regards
