In Sketchup, a measurement shows as 16 3/4”.
The same measurement in Layout shows as 16 5/8”.
I don’t get it. What gives?

You might have different dimension accuracy settings in your SketchUp model and LayOut dimension tool.
Post your LayOut file for better informed suggestions.
Thanks Anssi .. I think I’ve fixed the issue. It seems to have been a camera issue in Sketchup?
For my material cut sheet, I had manually rotated the view 90º to better fit a landscape 8.5x11 page in Layout. I reset the camera in the Sketchup scene and that fixed the measurement issue in Layout.
Thank you kindly for replying to my question. I was badly stuck there for a bit.

It’s not recommended to manually move the camera on layout, it’s better to create scenes on sketchup or change the scale from the sketchup model tray on layout if you want to make it bigger or smaller. You can also create your own scales if you want a middle point between the default scales.
In Sketchup, I have a model for a credenza that I would like to make. The file includes a couple of scenes of “cut sheets” to show how the various pieces would be arranged on two 4x8 sheets of plywood.
I set scenes up for the cut sheets with the camera set to Top” in Parallel Projection. I then realized that if I imported the scenes as created into Layout, the cut sheets would be in portrait instead of landscape orientation. I reasoned that the scenes with 4x8 plywood would be better oriented horizontally in Layout.
The mistake I made in Sketchup, was to use the rotate tool to manually rotate the view of the cut sheets 90º to bring them into what looked like a horizontal position for Layout.
The problem with this method seems to be that it causes distortion in the measurements in Layout. (see screen captures above).
To fix this problem, I went back to the Sketchup model, and this time, rotated the cut sheets 90º instead of the view, and reset the camera to Above in Parallel Projection. When I reimported the scenes into Layout, the measurements showed correctly.
I’m curious to know whether other folks have had similar issues with measurements showing incorrectly in Layout ..
This can happen when you have the camera set so the “image plane” is not exactly parallel to the object you are trying to dimension. This is because the dimension in LayOut is parallel to the “image plane”. How much the dimension is off depends on how far off axis the camera is placed.
Regarding the standard Top view, the camera will be set up so that the width will be parallel to the red axis. Knowing that, going forward you can place your objects correctly the first time. Alternatively you could move the axes so that the red is oriented along the length of your arrangement. If you do that be careful to ensure that you get the axes aligned correctly or you could induce the same dimension problem you fixed.
You may not care but you could make your model more efficient and easier to work with both in SketchUp and in LayOut by using components where you used groups and you could manage with fewer scenes.
You could have just rotated the SketchUp viewport in Layout 90° and have saved yourself a lot of hassle.
I did not know that. Thanks v much
