Importing point cloud file to sketchup pro for mac

Hello! Can anyone please recommend an extension for Sketchup Pro for Mac that will import a point cloud file? I was hoping to use UNDET however that says only for windows. (I have the same problem with not being able to import into Autocad for mac from pointcloud)…
thank you so much!!

I see “cloud compare” could be an option… if anyone has any advice or experience in this field it would be much appreciated!

What do you actually want, to import point clouds or a surface generated from point clouds? For the second, then CloudCompare will be helpful, watch tutorials on YouTube.

Thank you, Mihalai.
Yes, I would like to create a surface or object in sketchup.
Thank you, have started watching some - it seems like it is quite complicated.

It’s only really a once-off thing for now, so am considering trying to sign out of my sketchup licence and then install on someone else’s pc and then install Undet - if that is the easier way to go…

Follow a tutorial and you should be able to import a surface created in CloudCompare from point clouds.

Thank you, again!!!
Look forward to tackling this.

Hello! I am working on this and actually need some assistance on this CloudCompare process… I cannot access the Plugins (PoissonRecon plugin is the one they use here); I am logged into the CloudCompare forum but cannot find help here…anyone with any ideas - assistance would be appreciated!

It tells you in the tutorial that you have to first select the point clouds (min 1:05) and you’ll see that then the ‘PoissonRecon’ button is active.

Thank you, Mihai, Yes - as far as I can see it is selected (ticked in the DB tree)

This means that it is visible, but you have to select it by clicking on it.

Oh my goodness!! thank you so, so much!
I really appreciate this!

Hi  I have managed to make a mesh in pointcloud, however it is not clear to me how to export the file so that it is able to be opened in Sketchup (mac version).

Have you tried File > Save?

Thank you very much!
(Apologies for missing this)
I have managed to successfully import in sketchup - which is a huge achievement!!
(Though tbh the mesh looks very weird… its a lot of landscape and looks mighty odd!)
