I’m working on a road tender and we’ve received the existing ground survey in LandXML. Is there a way of importing or converting LandXML to SketchUp? I don’t have AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Thanks in advance.
Send me the file on the link provided below, i’ll fix it for you.
Also tell me, is it a LandXML file you want in to sketchup?
You should also know, the LandXML file is probebly Georeferenced, so when your open or imoport the file, the entire road would be flickering, so i suggest you make to files of the file. One with the orignial Orgin and one file with the entire road moved as close to x 0 y 0 as possible, and then when your done you’ll georefenrece it again in sketchup.
LANDXML files are supported by Trimble Connect, it’s one of the 60+ fileformats that can be viewed.
One can download the Windows desktop version here:
Once the landxml is opened, there is a nifty export option on the top left:
SketchUp can import Trimbim files in version 2023 and higher.
thanks Mike
That works great once I finally worked out that it needs to be placed at the Origin for the geolocation to be correct.
You can just do what shown and open the import the project in to Sketchup 2022, that version works fine with models far away from orgin.
No version of SketchUp works well with models far from the origin, especially if they are very far, thousands of kilometers as models with map coordinates tend to be.
I work with Coordinate systems in Norway, so my models fucks up in all versions other than 2022. Just a tip, i know the distance matters, thats why i said what i said.
