Importing geolocated 3D-Model from AutoCAD (Civil3D) in Sketschup

Hey!
I would like to import a geolocated 3D-Model from AutoCad in Sketchup. Is there a way to import the file, so it is geolocated in sketchup. In the end it would be great that when i load the terrain, the model is at the right geolocated position, included the heitght as in AutoCad.

I already exportet the DGM as KMZ and in google Earth it works. But for further modelling it would be great to have it in Sketchup. When i want to import the .kmz it gives me an FAILURE to import it without further information.

Any ideas to get this?

hello,

you can geolocate a blank model in sketchup to get the 3d terrain, import your dwg/dxf, place it/rotate it and drape it on the terrain

thank you for your answer Paul!
thats true, but iam looking for an way, so that the model will appear at the right location, includingt the height.
For visualizing bigger projects i would like to find a way not to drape it. Any ideas to export it in other .fileformats or a way the .KMZ exported file from Autocad is getting imported?

Geolocation in SketchUp is different than how it is usually implemented in CAD. AutoCad usually has no problem with placing the model at the actual coordinates (usually defined in an XYZ system) where it often resides thousands of kilometers from the origin point. SketchUp’s geolocation feature adds to the model an attribute that determines the placement of the model’s origin in a lat/long-type system (like in Google Maps). SketchUp models work best when they are near the model origin. When the distance grows to more than approximately a mile, display artifacts and problems start to appear, the farther the model is, the worse.
