I don't know what I am doing!

I somehow have gotten all these dotted lines that are everywhere. What did I do and how do I get rid of them?

Best thing is to post the model so people can check it and see what’s going on. Without the model it just educated guesswork.

I don’t know what I am saying:

You have come from CAD and you are drawing everything as you go, without aknowledging how to organize a Sketchup model using groups and components, you made a triple click selection on some geometry and you selected all conneted geometry. That’s why you have a lot of errors and everything selected.

The dotted lines are ‘hidden edges’…most likely from geometry ‘sticking’ to itself as you’re not separating out objects by group or component. For example, I’d group my roads separate from the sidewalk. That way, if I were to make a change to the sidewalk, it would be independent and ‘protected’ from interacting or being influenced by the road and landscape geometry. The hidden edges can be delete - assuming your objects faces are coplaner. If the hidden edges were created due to a change at a specific vertex, then deleting them may remove the entire face(s).

If anything I said didn’t make complete sense…then be sure to brush up on the entire SketchUp Fundamentals course here: https://learn.sketchup.com/
