I can't create a window

Why is my tray now popping out on screen and how do i fix it?

How do I even this corner? line tool doesnt work

Why is it that when i rotate an object it creates lines? How do i disable this?

how do you even what ? you mean make it even ? what do you mean by that ? what are we looking at right now ? what is not even? how long is a bit of rope ? what does the line tool has to do here ? if you want to straighten something, you need the rotate tool. if you need to delete something you can use the eraser. then again I’m not sure what you’re trying to do…

help us help you.

have you checked the video ressources the other have provided ? have you followed the courses step by step (not on your specific 3d model but following exactly what the videos describe? )

you’ll have to show us what you mean there too.

is it just a single panel from your screen that is now in the middle of your screen ? or the whole tray ?
single panel, simply drag it back to the tray.
whole tray, drag it to the middle of your screen, you’ll see four symbols allowing you to reattach it to a border of your screen.

pretty sure the interface management is covered in the videos Aaron recommended.

sketchup might be one of the easiest 3d software to get into. but it’s still a pro software (so not alsways easy). and it’s still a 3d software (also not simple). we can do tech support but we’ll need a bit more infos…

in order to maintain faces, sketchup will triangulate non flat surfaces. if it creates lines, it’s so your model keep its faces.

pretty sure it’s explained here

https://learn.sketchup.com/courses/sketchup-fundamentals-part-1

here is a small animation by Box from 5 years ago (a quick search gave it as a result) explaining the issue.

really, it sounds like you started a specific project head on and now you’re getting stuck on small things. it’s a software. it’s like learning a language. you need to understand the grammar and the basic structure in order to actually learn the language.
it takes a bit of time and practice but it’s worth it.

Corners and lines are uneven.

Moving or resizing an object creates a bunch of connecting lines.

I’ve watch the videos and they’re unhelpful. Nothing about this tool is easy.

If someone can just get on zoom with me and explain it then this would save a bunch of time. I cant upload the file because its too large

Example. Why does sketchup do this and how do I straighten it out?

it’s midnight, I’m in my jammies, and my french accent has a french accent.

rewatch the one about groups. from your closeup screenshots, it looks like youre working in a group while something is happening in another group. then again, this is a very zoomed-in closeup. it’s like taking a photo of a sparkplug and asking what’s wrong with your engine.

like I said, being the easiest is not the same as being easy. it means other are more complex. and skipping the learning phase to immediately start modelling an actual project with tutorials on the side is not helping.

that being said, off to bed. it’s likely not midnight somewhere else.

I’ve already watched over 30 videos. Theyre all unhelpful

See this SU file for ideas.

Are you able to open my files?

Have you followed the fundamentals lessons step by step on the sketchup campus website that was shared by a sketchup team member? Sketchup tutorials on youtube can be helpful if you want to understand or learn an specific tool or feature of the software, but you must know the basics of the software first, you can´t skip steps if you want to learn faster, there are no shortcuts when it comes to learn something new, “shortcuts” will actually slow down the process of learning. You should stop whatever you’re trying to do and go back to the beginning, learn the basics, practice with the exercises given there, then apply what you learned on your own models. I also recommend you to stay away from plugins until you know how to use the native tools, most of the plugins are meant to accelerate the process of modeling, that means that what would take you an hour to model with native tools, a plugin could do it in half an hour for example, it’s not always like that, but you must know how does the program and the tools work, there are also plugins that can do things that sketchup just can´t natively, like rendering photorealistic images or make complicated animations, but learning those plugins will also lead you to the same process of learning a new tool, for example V-Ray, it´s one of the best rendering engines, but it has a lot of settings and getting to know how to use them would take even longer than learning sketchup.

vray isn’t free is it?

Nope but If you have an studio subscription it includes V-Ray together with Revit Importer and Scan essentials also the price of the V-ray license is slightly cheaper than acquiring it directly from Chaos but if you do it that way you won’t have access to the other studio features tools

I’m using the trial version because i only need it for a specific project. I’m not an architect.

I’m using it to design my business

Good luck

It is still commercial use so you probably need to pay. Trial is for trying the app out, not for commercial use.

How do I remove these lines that get auto generated when i manipulate an object? They break a single wall into multiple sections

learn.sketchup.com

Have you read my post about extra lines being generated when rotating part of a model?

Have you opened the model that I put in my post?

This can also be caused by moving part of a model.

He’s not reading anything, he is expecting everything to be handed to him on a silver platter, and won’t bother to educate himself. Don’t waste your time. He can pay someone to do it for him.

I havent yet but i figured out using grouping prevents that. I just dont know how to remove the lines already created a while ago.
