Hyperlink for text in layout?

Is it possible to hyperlink to a text in layout 2023? Like i want to hyperlink a text to a you tube video

As far as i know or could find, this is not (yet) possible in Layout.
You could try add those hyperlinks to the exported pdf files with pdf software, like for example with Adobe Acrobat Pro.

You’re welcome. Nice to know it worked, even if it is a cumbersome solution

It was requested years ago… still waiting… I often either exports a PDF and add hyperlinks to the pdf using PDF-exhange or export the layout as jpegs into Powerpoint … ad add hyperlinks in PPT… much more flexible than LO in many ways it you stop thinking of it as a slideshow and more a graphics presentation package.

You can of course add URLs into a Layout file and export as PDF and the link works but I suspect you want something that works like this

This problem intrigued me so I did a few tests and found a work around trick in Layout if you want to have Hyperlinks show up in your PDF outputs. Below are the Layout File, the output PDF and the zipped excel file.

Links in Layout Test.layout (35.1 KB)
Links in Layout Test.pdf (23.3 KB)
Links in Layout Test Excel File.zip (7.0 KB)

as far as tricks go, this is a neat one !
you could also place a normal text on top of the links to act as a fake hyperlink.

Thanks @ateliernab,

You are right, you can place this under regular text or anything else you like, such as under a symbol on a floor plan showing the location a rendering point of view is taken from, and then the link would take you to a URL showing that point of view. Or place it under appliances on a plan with urls taking you to the particular appliance page… or a link at a staircase going up with a url leading to the next floor plan… the possibilities are endless and potentially very useful…

It would be great if Layout handled the hyperlink as a property of any object.

Come to think of it, SU has the URL property for components.

But inserting this into Layout and exporting to PDF does not render the objects clickable.

Does anyone know what the URL in SU components is for other than storing that URL information? Is it clickable within SU or LO in some interesting way I don’t know about?

Thanks

How do you add a hyperlink to another part of the same document set? eg a assembly drawing linking to a detail in the same set ?
one of the most basic tasks of an online document. It is a basic feature and easy in any desktop publishing software… In essence that is all LO is… but it is sadly lacking

the advanced attributes are simply infos you can find later or call in layout.

you could decide to use the url one to input the store’s name instead, LO and SU don’t care.
it’s not clickable by itself, only because you type an actual url.

true, although the main goal of layout was printing, not e-editing.
but true, having local and web hypertext / buttons would be a nice feature

FIY, I’m moving the thread in the Feature Requests part. not a big move, but since we’re all pretty much asking for hyper text, it seems a better place.
