It sounds like you are asking for an automatic x-ref manager that would keep everything up to date in both directions. SketchUps reference management is manual both directions, you must manually reload a component to update it from a reference and you must manually update the reference by re-saving it to go the other way. It’s a button in both directions. There are some extensions that make some of this easier, but nothing I know of that tracks versions in references automatically.
