How to make part of a model xray

If there was a way to apply X-ray mode to one component only, that might do the trick. I just don’t know how to do that.

Google search … Individual XRay (Extension Warehouse)

Where have you been all my life?? I’ll try it.

It needs to be a group, correct? It’s not working for me.

Have you read the instructions for use?
What is not working for you? What did you do?

You can also set the color with a lower opacity for the group or component that you want to look as X-Ray.

I’ve tried it as a group and as a component, neither works. The extension is maybe too old for 2024? It says it is only compatible up to SU 2022.

Yes, I followed the instructions.

Yes, I’ve tried that as well. I might try it again using different settings. I’ve also tried subtracting the smaller inside spheres from the outer larger sphere, but the larger one just filled itself in again.

I works ok in SketchUp 2024

The button has now disappeared on my desktop. Not sure how to get it back. Here is the model if you want to try it out on your end.

The sphere on the right has a tiny one inside it to test with.

It also works correctly with your model if you prepare it correctly. You have 4 identical components stacked on top of each other.

Wow!! I didn’t realize they were stacked, I’ll try it again. Thank you.

Another way to think about it - depending on the use case…is to simply use ‘Color By Tag’ to ‘override’ the current materials. That way any groups assigned to that ‘x-ray tag’- which is really just a transparent color in the tag color slot, reads as x-ray
