I go through all the usual steps- it even tells me my shortcut was accepted, when I pull up the menu.
YET nothing happened when I invoke my new ALT E shortcut (Yes I did select the group first).
Any fixes?

Was the group open for editing when you invoked your shortcut? I tried Alt+E, it closed the group as it is supposed to do.

Looks like I got my phrasing wrong.
I want to open group for editing.
(I have tendonitis in my mouse hand- so the fewer the clicks the better).
Do you know of a way to open a group for editing without mouse clicks?

In future Do Not create yet another thread for the same question. Edit the thread title if you need to(click the pencil icon next to the thread title) or add more information to the thread. Creating a whole new one causes confusion and will mean you will still get possibly incorrect answers to one or both.
