I have an older Mac, and am trying to download SketchUp. My operating system is OS 10.15.7 and unfortunately I’m not able to upgrade to a newer OS. Which version of SketchUp can I use, and how can I find a download for it?
Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
Your profile says you are using SketchUp 2023. That would probably work fine although I think SketchUp 2022 was the last to officially 10.15.7 however it is no longer supported.
There is no Classic license available. Do you have a subscription for SketchUp now?
Hey Dave, thanks so much for the quick reply. I’ve tried downloading 2025, and 2023. 2025 did not work. It looks like 2023 will work for my computer, but unfortunately it says “Trials are no longer available in this version of SketchUp.”
Any idea how I can download a version of SketchUp that will work on my computer as a trial? (I’ll likely get a subscription, but I haven’t tried it yet so I need to be sure first).
If you are not able to upgrade your machine, you can install newer versions of MacOS using Open Core Legacy Patcher. It´s not something ilegal, it just extend the life of devices that Apple doesn´t support anymore, I did it recently with my old 2013 Macbook that now belongs to my wife.
You can also install windows 10 if you don´t want to patch your Mac, obviously the performance of a Mac is better with MacOS than with Windows.
I think trials only activate on latest versions. someone had a similar case last year.
@hannahrelara last resort, you could get a single month of sketchup subscription (no renewal) as a sort of paid trial if the standard trial fails.
the subscription works for sketchup versions 2019 and up. so despite SU22 being “unsupported”, it’s still subscription-covered.
the only things you’ll need to access through your browser are the warehouses (extension and 3d)
oh and don’t forget that if you want to familiarize yourself with sketchup before getting a subscription, you can also use sketchup web that has a free version that should work on your computer. it has of course limited features compared to the pro version
