Hi im new to sketchup, how do i scale 2d furniture symbols into 1:100 scale in sketchup pro. Im using the metric system. thx
hi. you don’t.
you draw in sketchup pro at 1:1 scale. and after that you bring the view in layout and there, ask for a 1:100 view there.
now if you want 2d symbols in sketchup, you can draw them there, or import dxf / dwg symbols at scale 1:1
is it something you’d like to do ?
can you show us your file, so we know what you’re dealing with ? and eventually what you’re trying to accomplish ?
@sarojinipadayachee, and please correct your profile:
hi, thanks so much. im so new that i havnt yet gotten to layout. Currently im just learning to draw a floorplan, but would like to add some furniture to scale, for different room layouts for spatial planning for an assignment.
In SketchUp, basically, you make everything to full scale. You then send the model to LayOut for scaled output.
The one exception to drawing at actual size is if you are modeling something small for 3D printing. In that case, to avoid SketchUp’s issues with short edges, we usually set the model units to meters, but enter no unit values for the real size, e.g. type “1” for 1mm or even 1 inch real size.
Edit: Another thought: in SketchUp you can only view the model on the screen. So the only notion of “scale” is how big things look on the screen. Unless your print page is exactly the same size as your screen, the view size (zoom) has no simple relationship to print size (scale).
