Hi, I’m having trouble inserting exact distances with the distance measuring tool in Layout.
I can snap the measuring tool to points on the imported SU model but when I start a measurement, drag the mouse to suggest a direction then type in a distance (for example 5’0") then press enter nothing happens. I’ve tried this with escape and it just cancelled the stroke.
There is no endpoint etc at that point in the imported model.

It sounds to me like you aren’t using the Dimension tool correctly.
You need to create an anchor point on the model for the dimension to snap to. That could be as simple as a crossing guideline.
If you share your LO file, we can give you more precise information.
I’m confused, you are using sketchup free.
How can you be having an issue in Layout?
Heya DaveR, thanks for your reply. I went in to the original SU model and added the lines I needed at 5’, then updated the scene / saved the file. The measuring tool in LO now snaps to those points.
