Layout dimensions refuse to start at the exact point I need to measure

Dear All, and especially Dave

I have a Layout file that is connected to some sketchUp scenes.
When I try to use the dimensioning tool, it won’t hit the exact spot I need to measure from… so my dimensions are off.

Is there anything I can do? I need to be able to trust the measuring and not manually type in each field.

I was reading some prior posts and my scales match. I’ve made the rendering levels “high” in case it was getting confused.

Please help, if there is something else I can do.

I’ll take a look at your file.

Thank you so much

There’s something goofy about your LO file. I’ll send you a PM shortly.

There are a couple of issues. You have Grid Snap enabled which will make the Dimension tool try to snap to the nearest grid point. Turn that off in the Arrange menu.

The bigger problem is that you have your titleblock content on the top layer and the rectangle you drew for the border has transparent fill.

That gets in the way of dimensioning the model which is underneath. If you turn off Fill the Dimension tool will be able to snap to the model. Generally I would suggest that all title block layers should be at the bottom of the Layers list.

I affected your cures and it’s working so well now!!

That’s my first title block I ever made, I didn’t know there got a fill in it. You such a resource… I’m so thankful.

Aw shucks! Thank you. Glad that’s working.
