Help, my model is disappearing when I zoom in and I can select it but can't work on it

Hi, hopefully someone can help fix this please. I was working on this 3d model with no issues before I saved it. Then, when I opened it this morning I couldn’t see it at all unless I zoomed out and now it looks like this (see the selected model in the photo). I can only select it when I drag the select tool around the whole model however it will not select it by clicking it. I am unable to modify it at all, the only thing I can do is move it around.

Looks like you’ve got stuff spread out over a large area. Move them closer together and close to the origin.

Thank you for your reply, I huddled everything together and it’s still the same…

I hope that’s what you meant, I haven’t been using SketchUp for very long so I’m sure I’m just doing something wrong.

The scale is 1/6 for dollhouse furniture so nothing’s really that far away and the selection box over yonder has nothing in it that I can see, select or delete.

Delete the scale figure.

Hi. I have totally the same problem. I have been using sketchup for at least 5 years and this is the first time this happened to me. So I am also looking for help.

Probably a scaling issue. Of courlse since you haven’t shared the file we can only guess.

HI. thank you for a quick reply. Here is the link to my model.

You provided a viewer link. If you want help you actually have to provide the model file so we can open it in SketchUp and look at it in the online viewer.

Is this going to work?

do I have to download another format?

That worked.

I’m not sure what it was about the guidelines but deleting them eliminated the issue with the model disappearing when zooming in. I also did my usual cleanup steps. First I fixed incorrect tag usage.

ALL edges and faces should be created and remain untagged. Only groups and components should be given tags.

There weren’t any unused components or materials but there are some huge materials in your file from objects you got from the 3D Warehouse. I made them a reasonable size. some of them don’t actually need to be textures at all and could be replaced with simple colors.

I gather this is a hobby thing for you since you are using the free web version. I would suggest that you would make your work easier and more enjoyable if you choose simpler lower-poly components in the 3D Warehouse. Also, don’t spread your model out over the large area as you have it. Keep your model close to the origin.

Also there should be no exposed blue back faces in your 3D model. You should take the time to correct them.

Thank you so much for your help and all the other information. This was one of my earlier models. I only came back to take some messurements and I dont remember doing anything else. So I dont know what could be the reason for this happening since I remember that the model worked just fine before.

thank you again.
