you could try switching to the Classic graphics engine in the Preferences>Graphics window. You must restart SketchUp after switching for the setting to take effect.
This worked, don’t know what it means for other functionality, refresh etc.
And Sequioa – unsettling that Sketchup 24 is not supported.
Does Trimble itself have any information on this?
And thanks
There has been some talk about it but they never talk about exactly when they will update SketchUp. Unfortunately the history with Apple is that they seem to frequently update the operating system and break things in 3rd party applications. The general advice seems to be to avoid operating system updates until the applications you need support them.
FWIW, I used to use a Mac Book Pro for my portable machine but I got tired of Apple’s constant updates breaking the applications I used. When it finally got old enough that the OS could no longer be updated, I retired it and replaced it with a Windows notebook. My daily “drivers” have been Windows machines and in more than 20 years of using SketchUp I’ve never once had any problems.
Interesting. I started with Mac ages ago, the ‘computers for the rest of us’ era. There a surely enough things that have pissed me off with Apple. Not sure I could manage a shift to windows.
Do you work in Sketchup on your notebook?
Yes. When I need to work away from home, anyway. At home I mostly use my desktop machine because I have larger displays attached to it and an extended keyboard. I use the num pad a lot.
My Macs are all using Sequoia, and I don’t have problems with guides, with the new graphics engine.
The GPUs in my Macs are better though, and even my work Intel Mac from 2019 has a choice of GPUs. It may be worth going into settings, Graphics, and with the new graphics engine selected, look at the GPU selection menu. Does it only show the Intel GPU? Here’s how mine looks:
It will be, and you don’t have to immediately upgrade (unless you buy a new machine, then you may get what you get…)
Not all software is keyed to OS release dates.
FWIW I’ve been using SKP and Mac since ~2006. Opposite to Dave I got tired of dealing with Windows bullshit… so as soon as I left AutoCad behind for good I went back to Macs which I used prior to getting into design / engineering. Although that first year or two I dual booted using Bootcamp because I was scared of not having AutoCAD access for one of my clients.
My rule is that I don’t upgrade immediately until I know all my software works - SketchUp is the primary money maker, but also the Adobe suite, Quickbooks (so I can get paid)…
