Grey screen and can't see model!

Do you have fog turned on in your style?

so i am using sketchup provided by the university, it is studio sketchup. using it on windows 11.

Ok. Thanks for correcting your forum profile.

And do you have fog turned on as @slbaumgartner asked? Otherwise share the .skp file.

where do I find the fog option? and I would like to use We Transfer, what email should i use to send it to you?

In the Default Tray on the right there is a Fog panel. Or you may have to enable it under Window>Default Tray.

Just copy the link and post it in a reply.

it says that the file is too large. is there any other way?

How can a hyperlink be too large? I told you to share the link to the file you uploaded to We Transfer.

You’ve really managed to get your file balled up. I’m still working on it.

So evidently you added an object that screwed up the camera. This one seems to be the culprit.

In order to find it I copied the objects in your file into a new file a few at a time. When I copied this one it screwed up the camera as in your file. I copied the rest into the new file. I’ll upload the resulting file and share the link with you shortly.

By the way, I also fixed incorrect tag usage.

And purged unused stuff from the file. This is before removing the corrupting object.

No need to be hoarding all those unused components and materials.

There are also a number of very large textures in your model, especially considering what little they add to your project. I rezied them to something more reasonable. All in all, this reduced the file size by more than 70%. You should get in the habit of maintaining control over your models. Don’t just add content from the 3D Warehouse directly into your project. Download it into a separate file to check to see if it’s what you need and then copy it over to your project if it is.

Edit: Here’s the link. I’ll leave it here for a couple of hours.

Hello, thank you so much. I really appreciate it.

but my project is about adding textures because i am doing interior designing. how can i resize the textures?

I didn’t say you can’t add textures. You need to think about how those textures are used in relationship to your model and and the story you are telling with your model. I commonly see high res texture images for things like labels on bottles of wine in a wine fridge. Unless you look inside the fridge you can’t even see the labels on the bottle. Or high res images for the covers of books on a bookshelf. In both cases those textures are bloating the file without adding anything useful to your “story”.

I use an extension from the Extension Warehouse called Material Resizer.

alright, thank you

Wondering if you are able to help - I can’t find the model anywhere in the file… could you help me find my model again please I have tried everything can’t seem to come right

The camera was set to Parallel Projection and located at a huge distance from the origin. I fixed that. Do your modeling with the camera set to Perspective.

I also did a bit of cleanup on your model including fixing incorrect tag usage. All edges and faces should be created and remain untagged.

I’ll share the model shortly.

Edit to add: Here’s the model. There was a component called Patio Furniture that was creating huge problems with your file. I removed it and the model plays nicely. It also reduced the file size dramatically. I left the Face Stule set to Monochrome so you can see that there are some blue exposed back faces that need to be dealt with. You should nbot see any blue back faces in your models.

Thank you so much! Really appreciate you helping with this so quickly!

At first, some questions about your forum profile:
You stated you have License Type: Free Plan. There is no free version of Sketchup 2020.

Are you using a cracked software?

Which operating system are you using? (it should be Windows or Mac, preferably whit the version)

The Graphics Card: Memory is also vague. Can you please fill your forum profile properly!

Lastly:
You need to share your model, so someone can look at the problem.

Hello, I’m facing the same issue. I can see the axis but my model is missing. Was working on the model and suddenly it stopped and when i reopened it, there was grey screen.
