I have a model where somewhere along the long I screwed up the global axis which is now goofing up all things medeek in my model. For instance when I create a wall its along the perpindicular axis I defined and indexed on both the x and y axis. I have tried resetting the global axis to fix the issue but that does not seem to resolve anything. Any tips on how to remedy this?
Do you have scenes established with the screwed-up axes? If so, after resetting the axes you’ll need to update the Axis Location for those scenes.
I do have scenes with axis location but when I reset the axis and update the scene all medeek components are still skewed. is there an order of operations piece im missing?
Well, you’ll need to go through and change the axes for the components that were created while your axes were misaligned. Right click on a component and choose Change Axes. I don’t have any of the Medeek extensions so I don’t know if there are any issues with those components after you change the axes. Maybe not. If there is, the most expedient fix might be to delete and remake all those components. Remember to purge unused content from your model if you are deleting components.
I had a similar issue but I did not have any scenes created. I started a new model and inserted the old model with the goofed up axis. Exploded the inserted model and I was back in business. No miss oriented axis.
The Medeek extensions want to use the Global Axis. I use a axis manager extension to help keep track but its best practice to not use any axis other than the default. The easiest fix is to reset to the default (global) Axis and redraw the messed up assemblies. If you need to move the axis. Lets say you create a model where the floor/Slab is at XYZ zero and you want to move it to maybe another corner and raise the floor height so the ground (Z zero) is say 8” below the floor height so shadows render correctly. Select everything (turn on all tags) then move or rotate the model to the desired location. This will save headaches.
