Garden model very laggy

Ok I understand, thank you. I have just been reading about objects (a collection of raw geometry) vs components vs groups. And I have discovered Outliner

Two further questions if I may. Firstly how do you explode and create a component? I’ve tried to do that with my first model, but it retains the file structure.

Secondly, how did you do your square array? Was it with an extension, or did you create a linear array, and then multiply it?

Both components and groups are objects, opposed to raw geometry.

Managed to do it as seen in this short clip (Shrub Explode - YouTube)

Is it a case of just going through & doing as I did i.e. right click, and explode; several times until you are only left with raw geometry, or is there a quicker way?

Hi again guys

Thanks for all the tips so far. Things are going well with my models.

Just another question so I can understand the basics of sketchup.

I’ve been trying to keep the poly count low by minimising faces so the computer has less work to do when I manipulate them. Is it all about the faces, or are numbers of edges important too?

In this model of a sweet potato plant (Sweet Potato | 3D Warehouse), I have a very low face count, but a high edge count due to the lines representing the plant stem. Will this similarly slow down my models when I have 1000 similar plants in my model, or is it all about the faces only?

Thanks
