One of our teachers reached out saying that they are getting the “Are you in the right place?” error when signing in with Google. It goes in a loop. I have confirmed that the app is deployed to all users and all permissions have been granted. I also tested allowing pop-ups and third-party cookies explicitly, but nothing seems to be working.
Hi @tkollinok, thanks for the post and sorry to hear that the app is giving you difficulty. Sometimes our firewall is a bit overzealous in keeping unauthorized users from accessing the app. I’ll go ahead and manually add you to the database of approved domains. Doing that should fix the issue if it is whatI think it is.
By the time this post is live, the database should have updated and you should be all set to go. Let me know if that did not fix the issue. We have had reports of some additional issues with some districts and have yet to identify a pattern with it so if you are seeing any additional errors, we will be eager to talk.
Anyway, you should be all set to go. I hope you and your students enjoy using SKetchUp as much as I do.
Thank you for your help! I tested it from my end and from a student account and everything is working now. I did need to clear my browser cache, but it looks like we’re good to go.
Hi tkollinok, thanks for letting me know that everything is all set to go! It is always nice to hear that everything is up and running. If there is anything else I can help you with please be sure to start a new thread. Just be sure to use the @ command to make sure that the thread pops up at the top of my inbox.
I am a teacher and one of my students needs to use SketchUp.
He tried to access with his google education account, but he is getting the “Are you in the right place?” error when signing in with Google. It goes in a loop.
The app is deployed to all users at school and all permissions have been granted for both teachers and students. I also tested allowing pop-ups and third-party cookies explicitly, but nothing seems to be working.
Hi @SylVig thanks for the post. After reviewing your site, it is a little unusual for homeschoolers to have a back end that supports SketchUp but as long as it supports our software and you have the administrative set up to deploy the app, it should work just the same as any other school. If you already followed the instructions to deploy the app via a super admin and you are still getting the error you described, then my guess is that our firewall is being a little overzealous. Thankfully that is a quick and easy fix. All I need to do is manually add you to our database of domains and you will be all set to go!
As you have already included the info I needed in your initial post, we should be all set to go and by the time this post is posted, the database should have refreshed so you should be up and running! If you still see the error let me know and we can start doing some additional troubleshooting.
Hi @kthornhill, thanks for the post. I am happy to work with you to get this resolved right away.
Generally if the login error is limited to one or two users on a certain domain it indicates that there is likely something specific that has been altered in their account settings. The most common settings that we recommend taking a look at are as follows:
That popups and redirects have been allowed for the edu.sketchup.com address. This is necessary in order to complete the login flow, as sign in with Google includes a number of different popup windows. Make sure that your account doesn’t have them blocked.
In Google’s privacy settings, under the “Additional permissions” tab, make sure that Third-party sign-in has been enabled. Without this you will be unable to use the Google or Microsoft sign-in options provided by the app.
Within the Privacy and Security section of the Google settings, check that you don’t have anything toggled on that might prevent a complete login. This could include On-device site data and other site settings.
Of course this all assumes that the users are all on the same domain so if the domain is different we need to try something else. Let me know if any of that helps you or not and if needed, we can continue to troubleshoot.
Hi Casey,
Thank you for your response. I made the changes that you recommended and it is still not letting me in. It used to let me in and I was trying to help my student that was having an issue. I chose student instead of educator on accident and now it is acting like my google account is not a school account.

Hi again @kthornhill, sorry to hear that the troubleshooting steps did not help you get back up and running. I must admit, I am stumped on this one. We are in the midst of gearing up for our big user conference next week but I’ll try and track down someone who might be able to assist you in solving this but my first guess would be a permission issue somewhere in your system got flipped when you attempted to log in as a student but I am just guessing here as I don’t know how your particular account permissions look or have details about your system so I could be off.
As for adding you to our database I can confirm that you are already in there and everything seems to be working on our end so we can rule that out at least.
Regardless, I will try and track down a solution for you as quickly as I can. Hopefully Tori or another member of the team can assist you soon.
