Continually loops to this screen when I attempt to sign in with our domain accounts (@dcsirish.com) and (@goirish.net)
We are getting the same thing. What is strange is that teacher accounts can access, but not students. They are in different organizational units, but all the same permissions. The only thing I can think of is that I have the students marked as under 18 years old. I am wondering if it could be related to that? Bummer that there is no direct contact for support.
Did you ever get this fixed? I’m having the same issue. Thanks.
Hi @bernie_noel, sorry for the delay in my reply. This is typically caused by our security software being a little overzealous in its role. I can manually go into the database and set you up as an approved domain just to rule out any potential issues on that front. Can you link me to a school website so I can verify a few things? Also, if you could let me know the domain or domains that will need access I can get you added to the database within the hour.
Our school website is this https://www.swsd.k12.pa.us/ but our google domain is @southwesternsd.org
We don’t use google classroom and have that blocked which is the main issue. Can SketchUp be used without google classroom.
Great question @bernie_noel. I’ll ping some people with your question and post a reply as soon as I hear back.
Hi @bernie_noel , I heard back from the team and you do not need Google Classroom to use SketchUp for Schools. You do need to be a Google for Education user though.
Given the fact that you are a google user, this video may be helpful in getting everything deployed correctly:
Sorry to join such a late post but I am having this same issue. I would like to use sketchup in my class, however, my school does not have an edu domain. We are smyer-isd.net, so I keep ending up in the never ending loop to log in. Is this something that can be fixed or do we have to find a different program?
Hi @dbradley1529, thanks for the post. It is entirely possible that you are getting screened out by our firewall on our end. I went ahead and added you to the database so you should be all set from a firewall point of view. If you are still seeing the error that means that we need to dig a bit deeper to get you up and running. My next guess would be either a bad deployment or a popup blocker issue so we can start with those if you are still seeing a looping login.
Anyway, let me know if you need additional troubleshooting and if so, I’ll continue to work with you.
Thank you for the response. I am still getting the loop of are you in the right place when I try to log in with my google. Our school is set up through google, so that is my only option to sign into the edu.sketchup.com./app
Could it have something to do with my email, dana.bradley@smyer-isd.net, but it is google based? I created a Trimble account with this email, & when I try to create/log in, this is the loop I end up with…
Let me know what to try!
Hmmm… If you are still seeing the issue that points to something besides the firewall being the cause. Can you check a few account level settings for me and make sure they are configured correctly?
Specifically, I need you to make sure that popups and redirects have been allowed for the edu.sketchup.com address. This is necessary in order to complete the login flow, as sign in with Google includes a number of different popup windows. Make sure that your account doesn’t have them blocked.
If that does not work, make sure that third party cookies have been allowed. This enables the use of preferences and some of the other customizable features within SketchUp for Schools.
Then, if you are using Chrome, in Google’s privacy settings, under the “Additional permissions” tab, make sure that Third-party sign-in has been enabled. Without this you will be unable to use the Google or Microsoft sign-in options provided by the app. Also make sure that within the Privacy and Security section of the Google settings, check that you don’t have anything toggled on that might prevent a complete login. This could include On-device site data and other site settings.
If none of that works let me know and I’ll ping Tori_SU to see if she has any advice. Fair warning though, she has some morning meetings she is attending so it may take a while to get a reply.
I have reached out to my IT guy to ask about the last setting. I cannot find third party sign in through google settings. Everything else has been double checked, and still not working.
