Frequently hangs Chrome/Safari

The free web version frequently crashes after a couple of minutes of use. I hangs both Chrome and Safari and both need to be killed via Force Quit (OSX). I’ve tested this on multiple machines (Macbook, Studio). It seems to be a recent (since December) bug since I’ve been using SU before then.

Can you share a SketchUp model file that hangs up for you?

Hi Dave. I don’t know if I can with the free version? I can confirm it happens with multiple models. They aren’t trivial models, but it doesn’t seem to me that I crossed a major complexity threshold in the last 30 days but of course I don’t know what the update cycle is for the web app.

Sure you can. Download the file to your computer and then upload it here. If the file is more than 16Mb, upload it to DropBox or Google Drive and share the link.

Might have, though.

OK – see that now – I was looking at export.

I’m not seeing any hanging up with that model in SketchUp Go (web) or SketchUp Pro. That makes me wonder about which version of Max OS you are using and what the graphics card is.

Two different machines. 2022 Macbook Pro and Mac Studio. M1 chip; std Apple GPU; OSX 13.0.1. As mentioned only started happening about a month ago. Crashes typically happen after about 5-10 minutes.

I’m experiencing the same thing. Crashing every few minutes even when doing seemingly quite simple things. It’ almost unusable at this point.

I’m also on an M1 Mac, a mini.

Here’s my file (although it’s happening on others too) if that helps.

We are trying to reproduce the problem internally with no success, would you @rich.burdon and @jiiiim be able to record a session while working on the project and getting to App to slow down?

Thank you,

Same issue here I’m afraid. It’s basically gone from working to unusable. Must be an update since October as that’s when I last used the same models and they were working fine.

CPU goes to 100% and (tech jargon) being a web app & single threaded that destroys it.
