Using Sketchup Free (web edition) I cannot edit my model without it crashing. It has crashed several times over the last couple of days. I have purged all unused components materials and styles. I cannot draw or save my model without receiving the crash popup dialog. How do I fix my file. I can see it, I just can’t do anything with it.
What internet browser are you using? Try a different browser.
Go to the Nvidia site to get and install the latest drivers for yourr graphics card.
How large is the model? Maybe you are exceeding the limits for SketchUp Free. Have you added a bunch of stuff from the 3D Warehouse? Share the file so we can see what you are working with.
Is there an option to send in details when you get a crash? Have you been sending those in?
Could we try the model that is crashing for you?
I am using Google Chrome, nvidia is up to date sir
the Model has lot of details and its size is about 23mb, yes i had added few stuffs from warehouse .
how can i share the file?
Download it to your computer and then put it in a file sharing service like Drop Box or We Transfer. Then share the link.
Sing in to Trimble Connect and access the model from there so you can download it to your computer.
can I get ur mail ID ? I shall share the file via we transfer
Just copy the link and paste it in a reply here.
here you go!

It’s no wonder SketchUp Free is struggling with your model. You have a lof of objects that have excessively high entity counts.
Over 4000 roof tiles, each with more than 4000 entities.
Multiple instances of a column detail with over 7500 entities.
And another one with multiple instances and just this part of the column has over 80,000 entities.
Overall statistics for your model.
Really there’s no need for that sort of thing. I presume, since you are using SketchUp Free, this is a hobby for you. I would suggest that you greatly simplify your model.
I doubt this file will perform any better for you in SketchUp Free but you can try it. I didn’t do anything to the objects to simplify them.
here you go! the link for the file
Thank you
I have a less complicated moel, and I’m using Sketchup Web, for which I have paid, and not Sketchup Free. I can’t do anything because the paid version of Sketchup Web has been crashing every minute, or less, also on Chrome. I’ll try a different browser, but should this be happening?
well, if you scroll up, you’ll see than the original poster had to download their model then share it with us so we could check it and assess.
should crashes and slowdowns happen ? no. or maybe yes, depend on what you’re doing. a 19 million edges project will be slow in a browser. it might also be slow in the pro version because 19 million is a high number of edges.
so, share a file that causes you troubles, and we can tell you if it’s file related or not
It happens in Safari, too. I have a ticket with Trimble, but they haven’t asked for the model so I’d be delighted for some help.
Please download the .skp file to your computer and share it here. You’ve only given a viewer link. That doesn’t help us help you.
Thank you, This is the file.
Schoolhouse extension and sheds 2024.skp (14.2 MB)
I loaded your model in SketchUp Go in Chrome on my MacBook Pro without a problem. So far, no crashes at all.
It is conceivable that you are running into some sort of resource limit, even though the file isn’t all that large or complex. What specific model of Mac do you have, how much memory, what graphics, which version of macOS? You can find out by clicking the Apple icon at the upper left of the screen and chosing “About this Mac”. You can update your forum profile based on this information, which will help us to diagnose possible shortcomings.
You are hoarding a large amount of unused components (319 of 376) and materials (102 of 175). I don’t know whether they are contributing to your crashes, but it wouldn’t hurt to purge them. You also have some potentially over-detailed objects in the model (toilets and sinks in particular), but they aren’t as grotesquely heavy as some found in the 3D Warehouse, not so bad that I would expect them to cause crashes.
Is there something specific that you are trying to do when it crashes, or does it seem random and spontaneous?
Hi, Thank you for your questions.
MacBook Air M2 2022, OS 13.6.7, Memory 24GB.
It crashes when I’m doing all kinds of different things.
I’ll purge some unused components.
