I’m trying to draw a beaded lid using the follow me tool and I’m getting some results I don’t quite understand. The design of the lid is supposed to be 15 beads around a recess. The attached file shows the working path and profile I’m using along with the results I get using the follow me tool. What I can’t figure out is why I’m losing the 3 inside beads.
You’re running into the tiny face issue. Scale the model up by a factor of 100 or 1000 before running Follow Me. Or use the Dave Method: Make a component containing the path and profile, copy the component over a little bit, scale the copy up by 100 or 1000, open it for editing, run Follow Me. Close the giant copy of the component and delete it. use Zoom extents to return to the original copy.
What is the intent for this lid after you’ve modeled it?
Ah … That’s cool. So real world dimensions probably aren’t that critical? You could do the entire model setting meters as the model units but treating them as if they are inches or millimeters. That would get around the tiny face issue and you wouldn’t have to screw around with scaling.
