Flowify grid impose issue

Hi,

Just wanted to find out why I can’t impose a grid for this organic shape using Flowify? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Mesh test.skp (343.8 KB)

Full quads needed

Thanks for that, will try and adjust mesh so it’s quad based.

I understand that quads are needed for Flowify to work, but how do you get quads on a organic shape whilst it’s flat, before using Vertex Tools to manipulate the shape? I tried Quadrilateralizer, but there are heaps of jagged lines that look too sharp when I use Vertex tools to move vertices. Hope that makes sense? Thank you.

The mesh should look something like this

  • Flowify in SketchUp

To get that mesh, you can also do it in SketchUp, but for ease, I did it in Blender.

  • retopologizing in Blender

  • Flowify in Blender

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I don’t know how to use Blender. Is there a tool in SketchUp similar to what you use in Blender to do this?

To retopologize in SketchUp you could try something like this

Wow! I am always amazed at the problem solving and finding solutions here at this forum! Thanks very much for your time in showing how to do this. I understand the first part of the video. I’ll need to spend some time with some of the tools to understand how they work. Thanks again

You’re welcome!

This is how you can use Flowify in SketchUp, starting from a non-quad mesh.

Another slightly faster variation using Artisan “Extrude Edges”
