File crashing after opening

I’m having trouble opening my file today – the file opens for a brief second and then crashes. Not sure what to do since it was working fine yesterday. I’ve attached my crash number below. Any help would be greatly appreciated! @colin

quick update – I cannot open any SketchUp file. I had my friend try opening my file on his computer and it was fine for him. I’m wondering if its something on my end?

Share the file with us so we can see what is going on. How large is the file?

What version of SketchUp are you really using? There is no Classic license for SketchUp 2025. Is it really a cr acked version you are using?

Im using a license provided by my company, just checked and its the Pro subscription.

The file size is 246 MB, seems too big to upload

Please correct your forum profile then. Also edit the graphics card information. “Intel core i7” doesn’t identify the graphics card. This information could be important in helping you.

Upload it to DropBox or similar and share the link.

just updated it, let me know if you can access this – Dropbox

Please correct the graphics card info too.

Your file opened for me. It’s sluggish due to the bloat but it did open. I see this.

I see incorrect tag usage which wouldn’t prevent the file open but I fixed it.

And there are some excessively large textures which I resized.

I suspect that you’ve got the file so large now that your computer is choking on it. This copy has been reduced some. Maybe your computer will manage with it. You should go through the components, especially ones you got from the 3D Warehouse and see if you can slim them down a bit.

Great, thank you for taking a look! I just tried opening your purged file but it still crashes as soon as it opens. Here’s the crash number for the report I just sent – Crash #597299

Maybe @colin can look up the crash number to see what the cause is.

Do you think its something on my computer’s end? My co-worker could open it no problem

Yes. The fact that your co-worker and I can open it without any problem indicates it’s not SketchUp. It must have to do with your computer.

FWIW, I deleted the extra copy of the section couch placed outside the structure and I purged uused stuff again. The couch and two vases account for nearly half of the edges in your model.

Have your co-worker delete those things from your model and purge unused stuff. Then try to open that file on your computer. I did that here along with deleting the other stuff scattered around outside the structure. File size is now reduced by 90%.

If deleting the couch and vases and purging helps in your case, find lighter components to use instead of those obese ones.

Maybe you should also try repairing the SketchUp installation. Find the installer in the Downloads folder or get it from the SketchUp site, right click on it, choose Run as administrator, and then choose the repair option.

Just tried your advice for all the options and still no luck :frowning: not sure what to do now. Would uninstalling and re-stalling be best now?

(Crash #597352) for @colin

To start with just try repairing the installation as I described before.

Yes I repaired the Sketchup Installer based on your instructions

That didn’t help? At this point I think you should wait for Colin to give us an idea of why you are getting the bug splats now.

unfortunately it didn’t help.

thank you for your help this afternoon though!

The crashes do look like an issue that we have a fix for, but I can’t yet say when the fix will be in a new version for you to try.

Based on Colin’s reply, maybe you should try installing SketchUp 2026 using the Run as administrator thing to see if it will open your file.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled SketchUp 2026, and it’s working all good now!

@colin However, when I try to delete scenes that I no longer need, I get a crash. Everything else still works fine, is there a way to avoid/fix this?
