File crashing after opening

I see three crashes you sent in today, which are all ones that a fix we have done should help, when it appears in a version you can download.

Hey everyone. I have been working on this file for more than 4 months but now I cant access any of my work? I have tried renaming the Backup file and repairing apps but nothing have worked. I really would appreciate any help @colin https://drive.google.com/file/d/168i2sduikrd2Lwixt6ik-F7_w98eTON9/view?usp=drive_link https://drive.google.com/file/d/11CspjfJ-sC_lrRnqNY8lcKrw-H_rB7zS/view?usp=drive_link

Thanks ever so much

Could you change the link so that it works without needing to request permission?

Hey Colin. Thanks for answering. here are the links

I had a look at your files. The .skb backup is more than half filled with zeroes. Nothing can be done with that one. The .skp file appears to have a little important information missing but maybe Colin will have luck with it.

Where have you been saving the file while working on it? Did you experience a power failure? Is the version of SketchUp you are using cr acked?

The SKP seems to have what is needed, but I still couldn’t get anything out of the file.

@colin @DaveR My file this morning is crashing again, similar to before. I uninstalled and reinstalled SketchUp 2026, and it was working fine for a couple of days until this morning. I’m not sure what’s happening on my end. My coworkers can still open and work well in the file, even with the ‘heavy’ furniture blocks (which unfortunately we need to show the exact furniture of).

Any tips on what to do? I’m thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling again. However, I need to work on my files today and can’t have this software continue to be unreliable. Crash #105302

Colin can probably give you an idea of what the crash relates to but a couple of things come to mind to check immediately. First, a week ago I asked you to put the graphics card model in your forum profile but you didn’t do that. What is the graphics card in your computer?

Do you have Lumion installed?

Where is the model file saved when you are trying to open it or save it?

I would bet my lunch money that those heavy furniture blocks can be simplified substantially without hurting their appearance.

Updated.
Lumion is not installed. Just saving my file to our company Dropbox.

That’s risky. You should be saving the file to your local internal drive while working on it. If you need a copy of it in DropBox, copy the file there after you’ve saved it locally.

There have been many reports of users having fatally corrupted files because they are working on them from a cloud location.

Try downloading the file to your computer. Make sure it’s actually saved on the internal drive and isn’t just a link to the cloud. Can you open it then?

I looked at your crashes, and they are ones that we may have fixed in SketchUp 2026.

Would it be possible for you to try 2026?

yes ive been using sketchup 2026, and the crashes happen on the latest model. Its working fine for now again, after I uninstalled and reinstalled. It picks random days to crash and only (for now) fixes once i remove and reinstall.

Your profile says 2025. Please fix that.

I see the 2026 crashes you sent in today. They may relate to something we have recently fixed. The main culprit was Lumion, but it could happen with Enscape, which you are using. You could try disabling Enscape, see if that improves things.

One thing, by the way, the crashes in 2025 and in 2026, are ones that only happen with the new graphics engine. You could switch to the classic graphics engine, while you wait for a new version that includes the fix I mentioned.

Looks like it’s time to get your employer to set you up with a computer with a graphics card that is suitable for the work you are doing. The integrated graphics card you list just isn’t.
