Hi everyone,
I’m using SketchUp 2021 on Windows.
My .skp file (~600 MB) crashes / freezes SketchUp while opening.
What I have already tried:
• Opening .skb backup
• Removing all plugins
• Import method
• Hardware acceleration OFF
• Increased virtual memory
File was saved properly but now won’t open.
If someone can help recover or strip the file, I’d really appreciate it.

So you are using a cr acked version of SketchUp?
Where was the file being saved?
Looks like you need to update to SketchUp 2026 with a legal subscription. Your file opens in SketchUp 2026.
You need to be using tags correctly. I fixed that in your model.

Could you tell us how you obtained the free version of SketchUp 2021?
It’s not finished being fixed.
SketchUp 2021 was already installed on the system when I received it. I did not personally purchase or activate a license.
When it will be fixed
The file is fixed. Since you are using a cr acked version of SketchUp though, I won’t share it. Get a legal subscription license and install the current version of SketchUp. Then you’ll be able to open it.
I understand your concern. I urgently need to review the file today.
If possible, could you please share it in a neutral format (such as SKP saved to an older version, STL/FBX/DWG, or even a Trimble Connect / SketchUp Viewer link)?
That would help me proceed immediately while I arrange access to the latest licensed version.
