in class, I see people try to open dwg directly. they right click on them, and try to open with SU
no.
open a sketchup file, and in it, go to file / import and import the dwg file
the three issues you could get during importing are :
- wrong scale. by default it’ll use the scale of the file if there is one, if not, you’ll have to specify in the import options
- nothing imports. if you’re on an older sketchup, say 2017, and you try to import a newer dwg, say 2018, the import might fail. if you’re using the latest release, you should be ok
- crappy file. I mean, it happens, a corrupted file, import fails. it will fail in other softwares too.
