Exporting a model of lighting truss to Layout loses all detail

I can only embed a single media item as a new user, unfortunately, so take my word for it, the model looks great, exactly like lighting truss should look

And this is what the LO looks like

Try changing the style in Layout to see if that helps.
Or change it from a Raster to Vector or Hybrid.

Are you applying an unnecessary line style override to the LayOut viewport?
Without access to your file we can only guess,

OH well, it happened due to my inexperience.

Had no idea you had to highlight the import in Layout to change it (via Viewport), to what I assumed WOULD have been imported when I “Exported to Layout” (from .skp)

Thanks though - great resource here for support.

I actually tried to upload the model earlier but it was too big (max 16MB??)

To make changes to any entities within LayOut you first have to select it so LayOut knows which thing you want to change.

I’m curious about what you were really expecting relative to what you saw in LayOut. What change did you make to the viewport once you selected it?

You can always upload to DropBox or WeTransfer and share the link.

Have you checked out the materials at the SketchUp Campus and at the SketchUp - YouTube channel will be very worthwhile. Both sites are from the SketchUp team. On the YouTube channel, pay attention to the Square One Series. It covers the basics for each tool.
