Export settings and plugins from 2024 to 2025

I’m so tired to reinstall every single plugin and setup every single toolbar when a new version of sketchup is out…

How can i just save every settings an export them to sketchup 2025 ?

I read this in another post. There is a new Labs Migrator that you can use. I set mine up the way I have in the past by simply copying the Plugins, Templates and Materials folders from 24 to 25 and on a restart most everything populated. Some extensions asking for License info but that was easy. I didnt try the migrator but would if I had to do it over again.

When you install SketchUp correctly (right click on the installer and select Run as administrator), it should pick up your custom keyboard shortcuts automatically. The new Extension Migrator will bring over most of your installed extensions. It won’t handle those that have their own installers and add files in other locations than the Plugins folder. If you are using the default locations for your Components, Materials, and Styles, you can copy them from the default location in SU24 and paste them into SU25. You can also copy custom templates from the Templates folder for SU24 and paste them into the same location in SU25. And the same for LayOut’s templates and scrapbooks.

Yeah I know but it’s very frustrating to setup everything when you have a lot of plugins and toolbars etc…

I dont understand why sketchup can’t just update and keep everything in place.

I’ve done this migration thing twenty one times (well, almost twice that if you count two computers.) since I started using SketchUp. For me it takes about 10 minutes tops even with lots of extensions. I also find it’s a great time to do some house cleaning and get rid of extensions I don’t use.

FWIW, if you have any extensions from Sketchucation, download and install the current version of the Sketchucation ExtensionStore and use it to install your bundle of extensions from Sketchucation.

If you use custom locations for components, materials, and styles you could just go into SU25’s preferences and change the paths for those.

One thing I do to make getting toolbars in the right place easier is to make a screen shot of the previous version and import that as an image into the new version. That gives me an easy reference for where to place the toolbars.

After placing the toolbars I save the file and send it to my other computer for the same process.
