Right click on the downloaded installer file and choose Run as administrator. It may take a moment for your computer to respond and start to unpack the files.
Hi DaveR
I tried that but got the same result.
The install started by asking me if I wanted to continue - and thaen nothing happened.
After you click Yes, does that window go away? Hopefully it does.
The installer window takes about 10 seconds to get itself going. After waiting that amount of time, try these steps:
Hi Colin
Thank you very much for your suggestion.
Yes - the window does go away.
I followed your instructions - but got varied results - none good.
The first two times, the move worked - but my mouse was attached two the open window -
firstly your email and secondly Windows Explorer.
The third and subsequent attempts failed to launch the move tool.

You would want the installer to be the foreground application. The recovering a lost window trick only tries to grab the frontmost window, and I was hoping that would be the installer window you’re not seeing.
If you Alt-Tab at the time when you would expect to see the installer, is the installer one of the currently open applications?
Hi Colin
I tried Alt-Tab but the installer is not showing up.

In the folder where the installer is (probably your Downloads folder), there may be an InstallShield.log file. What is the contents of that file (it’s just text, Notepad should be able to read it)?
Hi Colin
Thanks for your continuing support.
BUT - I can’t see a log file.
I have downloaded the exe file to two locations eg. C Drive and external disc - but it doesn’t appear in either location

Next thing to try would be the MSI version of the installer. Here is that version:
Hi
Colin
Some Christmas Magic - it worked!
Thank you for all your help.
Why do you think that the msi worked, but the exe didn’t?

I am reminded of an old computer Haiku
Yesterday, it worked
Today, it is not working
Windows is like that.
For your amusement, see for example Haiku error messages - GNU Project - Free Software Foundation
