Error message when trying to import .3ds file - why and how to correct?

So I need to go online and convert it to obj - is that correct?

What is strange is last fall I was able to download a file from them and it came through perfectly using this same file type.

I changed the converter and it is better, both for OBJ and for STL.

Ask them to save as a sketchup file directly (the option is available in Archicad from a 3D view)
