Skiing?
I have also met a Finnish structural engineer who does similar work as you.
I would say BIM is somewhat the reverse of what you do, basically BIM is about compiling a database of building elements, with ādrawingsā as one possible method of presentation and āquantitiesā etc extracted from the same source.
Many thanks Nick! Great presentation!
well I use generate report to extract as many information possible of the model and recently create dynamic component for extract more info
Thanks so much Nick - really inspired by your work and appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
Is this presentation viewable on Youtube afterwards?
Hi @pbacot,
It is available here right now - Fireside Chat Series - Episode 1: SketchUp in Architecture - Crowdcast
For an in-depth look at site manipulation, check out our Campus track on Landscaping.

Thank you TysonK.
I will look-into this further. I remember seeing this in a search a few weeks back.
I just need to schedule the time to ādo-itā!
I have been using the Nick Sonder/Matt Donley book/method since it came out. Everyone loves the results. Just need to get faster at it!!
Iām hoping that their updated book (video tutorials would be āgoldenā) comes out soon. Nock does really terrific work/graphics.
Thanks again.
Thanks
Will Episode 1 be available to view on this platform or Youtube?
It looks like you can watch the replay if you are signed up for the series. Start on this page, and follow the signing up steps. Then you can replay this first one, and you will be set up ok for the remaining ones:
@colin Is there a good reason why you canāt use your Trimble ID to sign up?
I realize that the series is hosted by a 3rd party, but would be nice not to have to create yet another account.
Itās hard enough to get other Trimble companies to match the sign in options SketchUp has Even this forum is different.
Iāve noticed that.
You would think that at least within Trimble properties there would be single sign-on available. (that doesnāt rely on Facebook or Google ā and all of the associated tracking that invokes)
I will not sign in with either of them other than their own sites
Itās a little work but I found what works for me right now. I import the CADD survey into SU and extract the graphics. I then import the survey into LO and extract the annotation then combine the two. This places each in the program appropriate for editing and working with the respective entities. I usually have to save the CADD back R14 to get ride of AutoCAD proxies.
The basic thing I find is donāt try to draw in LO. And donāt try to annotate in SU.
CrowdCast (the webinar software we use) is not owned by or associated with Trimble in any way. While we would love to be able to have Trimble ID work for sign in, it would mean us having our own webinar platform.
Hi all! We want to hear from you! Tell us about your experience with the Fireside Chat Series so far. Please take a moment to fill out this survey. SketchUp Fireside Chat Series: Event Survey
See you next week for Episode 3: SketchUp for Interior Design. Same time, same place (Every Wednesday at 12:00 pm MDT on Crowdcast)
When do you anticipate release of updated Sonder/Donley method Book?

Hi Nick,
Hopefully you mean this Fall? Now that its October ā¦ does that mean by Thanksgiving?
Keep up the good work, I will remain hopeful!
