Editing a SketchUp model from the 3dWharehouse

Whenever I load this skp.File
L10±+Airplane+4.2+Airframe+v2.0 (2).skp (1023.7 KB)
from the 3D warehouse . I open the components from the menu on the right I can see all the components listed Spar, Wing plan , Wing rib etc, But I cannot load any of them or edit the demensions. I also tried to ungroup the 3D model when it loads but it will not let me, Is this because I just have Sketchup Free? Or am I not doing something?

There’s quite a bit of nesting of components in the model. Double click on them with the Select tool until you get to the raw geometry. Then you can edit it.

Okay, it works , like you said , but what about the individual components on the righthand menu bar can I load one them and edit each one individually.?

You should be able to select the component in the components list and drag it out into the model space to edit.

Sounds like you should go through the tutorials at learn.sketchup.com

I tried to select and drag a component in but it is not working ,

The components are coming into the model but due to the incorrect scaling of the model, they are tiny compared to the size of the overall model so they don’t show.

Here’s the spar doubler in the model. Note it’s more than 46 feet long.

The spar doubler component is actually a little more than 6 inches long.

If you’re just going to edit the components, delete the huge version of the airplane from the model space. Drag in the components and use Zoom Extents to zoom in on them.

Okay, yes i could not see them because of the size issue, and i was not using zoom extents thank you. I will go back over the lessons.

Thanks for your Help
