DXF push/pull problem

Rob, just type 1 and hit Enter. No quote marks, no text.

I usually drag the surface up, then release the mouse (causing it to push to some arbitrary height. Then immediately type the length I need (which shows up in the Measurement Box at the bottom of the screen). Once you get one right, you can either double click on other surfaces, or drag them up and use the surface of the first face as a inferencing height.

Dave…that was the first thing I did…Just typed 1 and hit enter…gave different results

No, you can get it for free from the SketchUcation forum:

As with most of Fredos plugins, you’ll need his LibFredo too:

If you plan to install more plugins in the future, you should use the SketchUcation PluginStore in parallel to the Extension Warehouse:

Cotty…It’s asking for $75.00. Isn’t it free for pro license owners?

It doesn’t have anything to do with whether you are a pro license holder or not. You can sign up for a free account or you can choose a premium account which gets you more content at no charge.

If you think SketchUcation is insisting on payment you are completely mistaken.

NOT QUITE READY FOR PLUGINS, SEEMS A LITTLE COMPLICATED …bUT FOR NOW, i THIK IT’S WORKING REASONABLY WELL. (sorry for capslock)…I have the project almost finished now for presentation, but I would like to “tilt” the whole design to the side, showing thurnede descending vanishing point. Seems I have done this in the past, but the model keeps jumping around when I try to tease it to th epreferred angle. What I wanted was the model to be level, yet turned as though you were on the left side looking down the caption. I tried the rotate tool without results. Thankyou for your help. RoB > > > >

Actauuly, I just want to alter the “view” with the orbit tool, then I can make a print of it. I don’t need to actial;ly rotate the model, just the orbit view. THX

Use the Orbit tool, then.

Dave…The orbit tool moves it many ways but doesn’t “turn” the model to the left or right.

You said you want to alter the view with the Orbit tool.

The Orbit tool doesn’t rotate the model, it moves the camera to a different position. What is it exactly that you want? Do you want to move the camera or the model?

Dave…I figured it out. The model was flat on the ground, so it can’t orbit through the sidewalk. So, I stood it up and it orbits beautifully now. Thankyou for your valuable time and expertise. Here’s the outcome before I put a frame around it. RoB > > >

Hi all…Been tweaking my design for the sign job. It would be nice to cast a shadow to reveal extruded lettering. I have been frantically looked for a solution where I can cast a shadow to add to real-ness. Does anyone have any idea how I can easily make a simple shadow on a design like this? The to the SU pros, I got this far…Just a liitle way to go for a presentation to the customer. THANKYOU in advance. RoB > > >

Have you tried adjusting the date and time sliders just to the right of the Shadow button?

Yes I did Dave, can’t seem to get any shadow at at all…here’s the skp
file in case you can find the time to look at i. Thanks, Rob > > >

You basically have your shadows turned off.
In the shadow dialog you have unticked On Faces and you have both light and dark sliders set to 100.
Tick “On Faces” and adjust everything else to get the result you want.

I had been to this point before and had noticed that my background was
turning blue, which could confuse my client. Is there a way to just cast
relief shadows without affecting the background color except perhaps where
the shadows are cast from the extrusions? Basically, it would be a “drop
shadow”.Thankyou for your informative and detailed answer. RoB

The blue face is reversed. You are looking at the back face.
Context Click on it and reverse the face.

Here, I modeled a couple simple shapes and applied the shadow effect. My
letters are not nearly as good both inside the letters and the cast shadows
from the letters, therein lies my quandry. To get the effect seen here,
without changing the background color. Is it possible? Thankyou for sharing
your valuable knowledge. RoB > > >
