Hello All~
I’m having a strange issue in Layout that I can’t figure out. Sometimes when I chose the hybrid model style in Layout (as opposed to raster) I get these hidden or ghost lines that show up. I think these lines are behind the camera. There is nothing in front of the objects in my model. This doesn’t happen with every scene and to the best of my knowledge I’m setting up the scene in the same way. Can anyone shed some light on this? See my screenshot.
How are you setting up the view? Is this using a section cut or are you placing the camera (without a section cut) to be able to see this?
If the latter then it is a bug. Switching to Raster is the only way it can render the scene properly. In Hybrid or Vector it will show unwanted geometry.
Yes it is by using the camera without a section cut. I wonder why to only happens sometimes?
Is this bug relatively new or has it always been there?
Been there for awhile.
I never knew it existed because I always use section cuts.
Use Raster. Or if you need Hybrid or Vector setup cuts.
This “bug” started when they fixed the clipping bug after years of user demands for that fix. It sounds like you were leveraging that clipping bug instead of using section cuts as intended. As Mike says, use section cuts.
Thanks as always DaveR and BMike!
Lol - I’d like to weigh in again (like I did with the SU team on this one) and point out it’s not a “bug” for a camera to only show what’s in front of it and not what’s behind it. In the same way, it’s definitely still a bug that in different rendering styles Layout shows geometry that’s behind the camera location in your scene.
Obviously semantics to a certain degree, but still. This is a Layout bug and should be treated that way by the dev team.
Agreed!
