Direct Input for Layout Dimension Offset

Hi Everyone,

I’m trying to find out how I can type in an offset dimension into layout when I am making a new dimension. After clicking on my two points (the width of the intended dimension) I start pulling the dimension out to set the offset. The dimension of the offset appears in the direct input diaglog box at the bottom left and if I type in 10, for example, I should be able to hit enter and the dimension should be created with that offset. But it doesn’t. I am able to type in the offset but hitting return on my Mac (enter) does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Just an update on this… I’ve discovered that if I draw a line 10mm perpendicular to the edge that I wish to dimension this allows me to snap the offset to exactly 10mm. Every dimension thereafter automatically snaps to 10mm regardless if there is an object there to snap to. This is a fantastic feature but doesn’t solve my original wish which is to simply type into the input dialogue box the desired offset dimension as outlined in my previous post.
