Customisable Toolbars

Hello everyone.

I’m sure most of us have customised their standard toolbars to a degree, and that seems reasonably straightforward, but would it usually be possible to add plugin buttons onto standard SketchUp toolbars as well?

I use the Undet plugin for working with Point Clouds and the plugin itself has always been amazing, but as the 8 buttons I use for most of my workflow are spread across multiple toolbars I would love to create a custom floating toolbar to include those 8 buttons plus a few SketchUp buttons as well.

My ideal floating toolbar would look something like the toolbar below, which I can already create by modifying a SketchUp toolbar, but as soon as SketchUp restarts the plugin buttons disappear and I get multiple bug-splats before things settle down again.

I’ve also tried it the other way around but I cannot modify the plugin toolbars or add SketchUp buttons to them.

I have also contacted Undet suggesting custom toolbars as a feature request.

Any advice would be appreciated as always.

Cheers

The native toolbar manager will only allow you to create custom toolbars with native tools. You could look at Fredo6’s Lord of the Toolbars.

Thanks Dave

The native toolbar manager did allow me to create the custom toolbar above which included plugin buttons and seemed to work okay, but sometime between closing down SketchUp and restarting it must have changed its mind :slightly_smiling_face:

I will have a look at the plugin you suggest.

Thanks,

Interesting. My understanding is that it would only work with native tools.

Good luck with LOTT.

OH MY GOD!!!

The Fredo6 Lord of The Toolbars plugin is simply amazing.

Seriously - this plugin makes my use of SketchUp so much faster and easier.

I’m more excited than a caffeinated squirrel in a nut factory!

Thank you @DaveR very much for the tip  :+1:

You’re quite welcome. I’m glad it works for you.

This Floating Toolbar includes 90% of the commands I regularly use, I just need to add Select, Pan, and Zoom Extents which aren’t included as standard but they can be added manually.

It’s great to have your regulars right in front of you as you’re working, and it even uses the old style icons which many people prefer :+1:

I’ve just done an hours work using it, and its already intuitive - for me its much faster than either keyboard shortcuts or even my Stream Deck.
