The Mac crash report was too long to include…

Are you getting Bug Splats when SketchUp crashes? Are you sending them in with your name and email address attached? What method are you using to import the image? I just did it on my PC using File>Import and ensuring I selected Use as Image.

Does this crash for you?

Thanks DaveR. I did report the crash via the BugSplat tool. That’s how I got the Crash ID#.

Were you able to import the image?

That worked perfectly! Is there something that I did wrong?

It’s crashing on “CreateTextureForImage”, so you’re importing the image as a texture?

Maybe @colin can look up the Bug Splat and help to ID the problem

I don’t know. What steps did you follow to import the image?

Barry looked it up while I was typing. Try importing it as an image like I did.

@Barry the image is attached in the first post. It displays as an image instead of a file.

I used:

File\Import

I selected the image format(s)

  • Bitmapped, TIFF (Original)
  • RGB, TIFF
  • RGB, PNG

I then selected “Use as Image” from the dropdown.

The system and software would process for a few seconds and then crash.

I wasn’t importing as a texture – unless I accidently did on the last version. All of the others were definitely “Use as Image”

Can you crash it again and confirm it’s “Use as Image”? I imported the .jpg in this thread on my M1 and no issues.

I think the original file may be corrupt. When I tried reopening from the desktop, it immediately crashed. I duplicated the file and renamed it. Same thing. When I went back and tried to reopen DaveR’s file that I had worked on, it opened in recovery mode and then crashed. When I opted to open the older version of the file from DaveR that was posted to the forum, that file opened without any problems.

So, I opened the non-corrupt file from DaveR. I coped the entire model – without the image and pasted the model into a new file. That went well. I then tried to import the image file again as “IMAGE” not as a “TEXTURE.” It immediately crashed.

I relaunched SketchUp. It opened the recovered file without the image. I opened a new file and attempted to import just the image. It crashed again. I’ve relaunched a submitted a bug splat report.

The 3 latest crashes: 2 were CreateTextureForImage, and one was Ruby. Do you have an extension that’s interfering or trying to create a texture for you? @colin, I’ll email you the crash links.
