I have a model where one of the components visibly disappears. I can see it under the Component Window as well as Outliner. When I select it in Outliner it shows me the container box but not the items themselves.
Little ‘eye’ icon in Outliner does not seem to do anything.
Likely either nested groups inside or the raw geometry is hidden via the hide command. Turn on View> hidden geometry and hidden objects and try again. You will see ghosted images of hidden items, you can right click and choose unhide. Upload your model here for a more definitive diagnosis.
I have checked the hide/unhide and that was not it. I just noticed that if I go to another scene the component is visible and now it’s visible in all scenes including the one where it wasn’t visible.
Problem solved for now, but it’s happened before and I think it must be a bug in the program.
It is not a bug in the program. It is not understanding how hide and nested context works. Items hidden which are contained inside a component or group do not obey the hidden status applied to higher context that contained them. You have a “visible” shell with “hidden” geometry buried somewhere inside of it. It could be items hidden by tag state or hidden directly and saved by scene state which are different methods of controlling visibility, there is also outliner visibly, lot’s of different “right” ways to work in SketchUp. If you upload your file we could tell you exactly whats going on for you so it stops reoccurring and you can reliably control visibility in the future.
