Chromebook Kiosk Mode

Does anyone know, or has anyone been successful running Sketchup in kiosk mode on Chromebooks?

The app works fine on a logged in Chromebook, but hangs at the login screen in kiosk mode.

Any ideas ?

I’m not sure who would know if it is possible. @marwanobeidat or @CaseyG may have ideas.

Hi @dcyfalted, thanks for the post and thanks for the @ command colin!

I am not sure about this one and will have to ask around. Tori may have a few ideas so I’ll reach out to her this afternoon. I already have a meeting set with her so this is good timing.

Talking to Tori now. She is asking if you can confirm if you are using a single app mode or if you are using a multi app mode. She also wants to know if it might be interfering with popups or third party cookies as any interference with those may result in an inability to log in.

Can you please let me know? We have never actually had to test this before so we are just as eager as you to hear if it works.

Multi app mode … using Google Admin Console to deploy the apps.

I don’t see any setting to allow or disallow popups in kiosk mode. It is a user setting and Sketchup popups are allowed there (but users don’t log in, so they wouldn’t get that policy ?)

Thoughts ?

Good question. I am happy to investigate this with you but don’t have access to a Chromebook at the moment and won’t be back to the office to get one until Wednesday so anything I say here would just be speculation until then.

I am guessing that the app would work if it is deployed on the domain that the user is signing in from when they sign in to the app but I am unsure if the login process would work. I’ll try and dig into it as soon as I can and will let you know once I know more.
