Can't manualy enter line length all of the sudden

After clicking an origin point for a line, I cannot just type length and Enter.

What version of SketchUP? Please complete your profile.

Are you moving the cursor in the direction you want for the edge before typing the distance? You aren’t clicking in the Measurements window are you? What’s the length you are trying to draw? What are the Units set to?
