I just downloaded and installed sketch up but i can’t see anything. the program launches but when i draw a rectangle or line it is not visible. I’m sure I’m missing something basic.

lame video adapter (which?), try disabling “Window > Preferences > OpenGL > Use Hardware Acceleration”.
