Thanks, I think the same thing until I see some of the stuff people out there make. I put a lot of time into making greebles but I still have a lot to learn lol.

The animation was made with a plugin called [Animator], I used kinematic constraints to get it to work. Animator is finicky for the horrific trials I put it through but it’s very impressive for a free extension.

Derpasaur is coming along, making an animation rig is an uphill battle but it’ll pave the way for the other machines

Also unwrapping is a nightmare, already did it once but might have to do it twice over to get the proper texel density :face_with_spiral_eyes:

But in other news it’s that time of year again: “March of robots” where you make a robot everyday for the month of March (really just using it as an excuse to cut loose and make stuff)

Might not be able to make all of them again, but the goal is more than last year (13)
-went ahead and threw together a kitbash set to maybe help things along

Starting off with “Signal”:

Also planning on being a presenter at basecamp this year, excited to finally break out of the shell and meet some peeps :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Belated thanks- I’ve been very unusually scuffed for time lately, of course it would be now. Lots of catching up to do in the coming days.

“Darkness”: Exposed bonfires will occasionally attract shadow automations from the darkness; although they are not considered a threat, many find their presence to be an annoyance

“Power”: A bot that charges and installs batteries for other bots

“Danger”: Mechanical megafauna can be extremely aggressive; do not apprach one while rafting

“Machine”: A nuclear powered drone assembler

May have gone a little overboard, there might be a couple days worth of robots in there though

That’s absolutely incredible!!!
I’m happy if I can get a door to open

@shagrat1 Thanks, I was pretty happy when I first got a door to open too

@duanekemp Thanks for the suggestion, they really seemed to enjoy it!

Continuing the overboard train:

March of Robots: “Tower”

“The soul of our city no longer responds to a master, but it heeds our prayers and has never led us astray; blessed are we to sojourn astride upon it”

“Mortal Engines” here we come!

Great stuff but seriously - how much time do you have on your hands?

@Devine Usually 4 days per week of “off” days where it’s just a few hours of farm work, which really feels like not enough so I’m compelled to speedrun things when I find that time. Honestly shouldn’t have sunk the last two stable 4 day cycles into single projects, so this last cycle is a catch up game.

“Thing”

Smaller shadow automations will often fill a scavenger role to avoid conflict with larger machines

“Future”

Everything’s chrome in the future!

“Wall”

For when you need military grade backup

@Sonder Thanks, it’ll be quite the culture shock actually meeting people in person and I’m super excited for it!

Last bot for March of robots: “Old”
~slightly late since someone forgot to change the oil, and I felt this one deserved an animation

“She’s no spring chicken, but give her a chance and she’ll haul like the best of 'em”

(changed the feet to support pivoting)

Didn’t get quite as many as I’d like for MOR since life and things, but it’s motivating knowing grit isn’t a finite resource anymore. Just need to apply it to the big stuff now

One of my siblings in cross country said to make something that runs fast, and I’m still in robot mode so I couldn’t resist. (also wanted a reason to make a humanoid mecha for the first time)

You will be wearing this as a suit at Basecamp, right?
