Autotext and <CurrentDate>

Can someone expain why the autotext for current date doesn’t work for me? My Layout documents never updates to the current date, it always shows only the last date that I worked on the document. Under File/document setup it also doesn’t show the current date, I always seem to have to update this each time I open Layout. What am I doing wrong?

It happens in all my layout files using templates. Here’s a blank one.

It’s because you’ve typed an actual date into the format field.

It should look like this:

[joeclark99]
